(It might seem obvious, but anyone familiar with Cambridge will know this can't be taken for granted. Coldham's Lane, for example, has an on-road cycle lane beside car parking bays. Government guidelines suggest a minimum width of 1.5m lane with a 1m separation between the lane and the parking bay. The council's view was that 1.2m immediately adjacent to the parked cars would do.)
