armbWent to the bypass exhibition. The cycleway diagram I worried about is misleading, and they are in fact adopting the position that where there isn't room for a sensible separate cycleway, there shouldn't be one.
(It might seem obvious, but anyone familiar with Cambridge will know this can't be taken for granted. Coldham's Lane, for example, has an on-road cycle lane beside car parking bays. Government guidelines suggest a minimum width of 1.5m lane with a 1m separation between the lane and the parking bay. The council's view was that 1.2m immediately adjacent to the parked cars would do.)
