armb: Dog jumping in water (Default)
Enjoyed a week in Wales. Walked along beside the Ffestiniog railway from Tanygrisiau to Tan-y-bwlch, then caught the train (pulled by David Lloyd George down to Minffordd and swapped to another train (pulled by Linda) back up to Tanygrisiau. Went to Conwy and Harlech castles, and Bodnant gardens. Cut a fair amount of firewood. Saw lots of lambs looking cute (which didn't stop us having leg of lamb for supper one day), including orphans being bottle fed and an orphan wearing the skin of dead lamb to try and get the dead lamb's mother to accept him. Heard that EU regulations mean that dead sheep have to be taken to a licensed incinerator, with the nearest one being at Winchester, about 230 miles away. Boys enjoyed having their cousin there (and his Gameboy, but we're refusing to get them one). Alice and I slept in a tent, Alice's mother and sister were in the cottage with the three boys.

After we got back I cleaned lots of sheep shit/mud mixture from slippery bit of forest track off underside of car with pressure washer for MOT work tomorrow.
