Mouse in the compost bin
Apr. 4th, 2006 10:55 pmA few days ago I saw a tail and rump as something mouselike dove down a hole when I lifted the lid of our compost bin. This morning, I saw more of it before it dove down a hole, and then it turned around and peered out, and then climbed out and sat on top of the compost in full view.
It did, however, hide when I went away and said "come and look at the mouse in our compost". I'll try and rememeber a camera next time I take the lid off.
Looking at Wikipedia photos, it looked more like a field mouse/wood mouse than a house mouse.

Date: 2006-04-05 03:01 pm (UTC)(Bertie (the terrier) was sniffing at a hole in the ground near the compost bin, under some coiled hose, this morning. I have no idea if it was a mousehole. Makes a change from sitting with his eye to the hole on the fence looking at the pheasants eating windfall apples.)
