Having seen information about pedal driven hydrofoils, I'd idly wondered for a few years whether a kayak could be paddled smoothly enough for hydrofoils to work (I was sure I couldn't - the few times I've been in a narrow racing type K1, I've been too wobbly to get up any speed at all, and while the hull shape doesn't matter so much once you are up on foils, you need to reach transition speed (some pedalled boats have been ramp launched, but that's cheating.)
