Dead computer

My computer has died (the other one, not the one I'm typing this on). Yesterday, after I put the 5200 graphics card back in the computer downstairs, it worked (I ran the benchmark thing that came with the 5500). Today, turn it on and fans whir, disk lights flash a bit (not much), and nothing appears on the monitor (except a "Monitor is in power saving mode, activate from PC" message if you turn it off and on again, or "No signal" if it's disconnected). Put in the card (Riva TNT2) from the older Pentium machine, no change. Took this monitor (and lead) down, no change.

It was silent. Having plugged the mouse and keyboard back the right way around (but possibly coincidentally), it's now repeating three equal length beeps.

And, having taken the RAM out and put it back again (and taken the children to school), it works. At least enough to write this on (I have a copy of memtest86 but haven't burnt a CD to boot it off yet). Now off to work.
