New computer, or not.
May. 28th, 2005 11:30 amBits for new computer arrived. Put them together, switched on - nothing. No whirring fans, nothing (actually not quite true, there's a green LED lights up beside the power switch header pins).
Tried a different power supply, nothing. Plugged power supply in new case into old motherboard, fans start. Bah. This is what comes of being impatient and suffering from a cold.
It's one of these in this.
And I suspect I might have damaged it wriggling it round the power supply (cf. http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,115635,00.asp), when I should have taken the power supply out (http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=antecaria&page=4). I wish I'd read that earlier.
Now I need to work out how to get the CPU out of its socket without damaging that. [EDIT: lift the little lever until it goes click.]
