Saying that it doesn't slip is a bit meaningless coming from someone in California, but even when I was commuting in England (cold, wet, and other nasty things that I vaguely remember) I still had no problems in the rain.
I'm certainly financially better off with the round Lumotec I already have, and would be even if I upgraded the existing Union dynamo (came with the bike) to a B+M. (Though I might go to a hub dynamo (e.g. this Shimano one or even this more expensive Shimano one) if upgrading, for absolutely no chance of slipping even if asked to drive 6W (two standard dynamo lights, one switched with a shorting link - like this).
But switching between the Solidlight and the Lumotec (with 3W bulb, I have LED rear lights), I preferred the Solidlight. (And Solidlight do a dynamo version of their light. Costs a bit more than the non-dynamo version, but saves the cost of the battery and charger.) Using a better dynamo, and possibly switching to a Bisy) would improve things a bit. With unlimited budget (but existing bike) I think I'd go for a SON hub dynamo with the Solidlight. As it is, I think my existing lights will do.
