... I was sitting in a bar with a few work colleagues and an accordionist walked in, with a little combo amp in one hand and the accordion in the other, he plugged it in and started playing French accordion music ... no surprise there ... then half way through his set he closed up the bellows, attached the little strap that holds them shut, flipped a switch on the accordion and started playing piano and other instruments ... yes, it had a midi-fied keyboard on it!
The obvious difference between that and the Roland is that "proper" accordion uses the pressue on the bellows for dynamics and in particular for adding rhythm and "pulse" to the music (a sort of "wha-wha-wha" sound). This is just the next obvious instrument now that you can get midi converter mutes for most of the brass instruments and things like the yamaha wind controller to simulate sax, recorder and similar brass and woodwind instruments. It sounds fun! I must send the link to Dan Bennett (the filking accordion player!)
