Called in at Milton tip this morning since I was coming in on the A10 having come from Ely. Bought a dynohub.
Well, actually I bought a complete Raleigh Twenty that was fitted with a three speed dynohub on the rear wheel (like this one). It's a non-folder, but the wheels (ISO 541) fit the Dawes folder, although that has ISO 440 wheels.
The Twenty's front wheel is badly rusted, but the rear is in better condition than the Dawes rear, so I'll probably use mixed sizes. If I use it much I might eventually buy new rims (but not, I expect, a whole new dynamo hub, even if the SON and the somewhat cheaper Shimano are a lot more efficient than the old Sturmey Archer).
(Keeping the dynohub on the back would give the option of a Pantour suspension hub on the front, but spending that much would be frankly silly without a much better frame.)
I also bought a 20" (ISO 406, the common 20") wheel cycle I have vague plans for (along with a 26" frame already in the shed), and a broken pressure washer because its hose has the new style handgun.
All for seven pounds.
