The four legged hamster is currently under the floorboards. Probably. (This one can't get out of its cage, Henry was careless while it was out.)
Oh well, the other one came back up ok, maybe this one will too. (Three legged one has finished course of antibiotics and seems ok.)

Could be worse: we lost Big the fat deaf cat under the floorboards. Took us nearly a day to miss him and about half a day before we realised where he was. He came up very greasy, black grease. Very E A Poe, the mewing from beneath the floor.

Hope the hamster reappears.

Boggle. I don't think we've got any holes that Big would fit through.
Friends of ours once lost a garter snake that reappeared six months later, but I don't think hamsters can survive on eating spiders.
A cat (not ours) did once fall into the waste oil container at the garage next to my parents' house. It survived, but needed some serious cleaning.
