Hamster injury

This morning I found that Rory's hamster had got its foot stuck in the latch we added to the cage when it escaped before, and had broken its leg. The vet said that if it survives the anesthetic and the amputation, she'd heard that hamsters can manage quite happily with three legs. Since he was hamstering about quite actively, dragging the broken leg (with bone sticking out), I thought we had to give him a chance.
So fingers crossed for George the hamster.

I phoned the vet, and I'm told he's walking about okay.

Never had a three legged hamster but one of our cats has been waddling around on three legs for a couple of years now, she is perfectly happy like this.

The waddling is nothing to do with the missing leg just that Londo eats too much.

The parents of someone I used to work with had a three legged cat that could jump surprising distances up onto walls etc..
I collected the hamster from the vet this afternoon and it seems to be ok.
