I'm turning some audio book CDs into MP3s, using iTunes.
The track recognition stuff gives the first CD tracks "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", ....
The next one has tracks "01", "02", ....
Then we have "01" (sic), "Xx", "Xxi", "Xxii" ....
Then "4a", "4b", "4c" ....

There has to be a better way.

(Artist/Album Artist/Composer information is also inconsistent, but I can select all the tracks in a book and change that all at once. I tend to make them all the author of the original book because that's most useful to me in menus, even though it's not the most informative possibility.)

[EDIT: Now looking into http://musicbrainz.org, but suggestions welcomed.]

I remember finding a program called mp3tag which seemed to do that quite nicely.

Hm... ah, apparently I still have it and the reference. (Site is German but I don't remember any problems using the software.)
