Pam crushed a lot of snails in the greenhouse, but too late for half the tomato seedlings. She's sprinked snail/slug poison round the rest.
Yesterday I was supposed to be helping a co-worker move house, but a combination of Tesco delivering right at the end of their slot, a wrong phone number, central Cambridge traffic/parking, and his astonishingly efficient packing meaning it all fitted in a single vanload, meant they had finished by the time I joined them. (I should have cycled, but had thought a large car not full of bike might be useful.)
I did use a scarifing rake on our lawn before Tesco arrived. Also squashed the first few greenfly of the season on new rose leaves. There do seem to be plenty of ladybirds around, so we hope they will keep the greenfly under control. There seem to be a lot of wasps around too, which isn't so pleasing (I wouldn't mind if they stayed in the garden, instead of wandering into the house and getting annoyed when buzzing loudly against a closed window next to the open one doesn't let them out).
The water from our kitchen tap still tastes bad, at least sometimes, especially when boiled.
