"The Nutt Sack Affair"
Nov. 7th, 2009 09:40 amIs "The Nutt Sack Affair" the finest name ever for a political embarrassment?
And why do I have a sudden urge to look for Man From UNCLE slash about their fight againstthrush THRUSH? (I don't really. But I bet it exists.)
(P.S. I wouldn't much mind politicians saying "other considerations result in our following a different policy from the one our science advisors recommend". But they should be honest that that is what they are doing, and the advisors should be free to say that their advice was different.)

"In short: it's immoral, but we're going to do it anyway."

David Howarth MP is to present a petition to Parliament on Friday 18th May. You don't have to be a Cambridge constituentM to sign the petition, but it does have to be done soon (and on paper.
(This is different from the online petition http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/roads4bikes/)

Afghanistan, Iraq
Sep. 14th, 2006 02:06 pmSo, five years on from 9/11, and they haven't caught Osama bin Laden, and Condoleezza Rice is worried that NATO might be struggling in Afghanistan.
Maybe it was it a mistake to get distracted by starting an Iraq war which has killed more Americans than 9/11.
And here's another paper about the insecurity of Diebold voting machines.

Safety Elephant
Apr. 26th, 2006 08:52 pmI was annoyed by hearing Charles Clarke on the radio attempting to defend the governments record on civil liberties, mostly by lying about it.
Chris Lightfoot on the subject.
(I can't remember whether I've ranted about the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill, or just been depressed by it and left writing about it to people who do a better job. But if you haven't heard of it, see http://www.saveparliament.org.uk/)
