My original plan was to do it in two: first swap, and once that was sorted, cancel the (then) unused one. That was until they said "but we have to cancel one of them to free it to assign to the other line", at which point I thought it might just as well stay cancelled. But possibly they were lying and had I made a fuss about having been told I could just swap them, they could have without a (temporary) cancel.
