Stirling Engine powered fan
Dec. 15th, 2006 06:29 pmThis is rather nifty (and cheaper than this engine, though maybe not allowing for shipping.
I wonder if this or this DIY ones would drive a worthwhile fan - probably not.
Gyroscope.com do have a peltier version.
What I really ought to do is fix the heat recovery ventilation system in our roof. It would have been a good start if the labels on the heatexchanger/fan units were sufficient to tell what model replacement filters I need.
[EDIT: Actually they are, the "VVX400" is just in much smaller writing. Improving the lighting in the roof is yet another thing that has been on the "to-do" list for a while. (Having replaced the existing bulbs with low-energy ones does at least stop it rapidly overheating when the lights are on. The space under the roof is relatively small, because about half the roof is over sloping wall/ceilings of first floor rooms (limiting the scope for improving the insulation).]
