Weekend
Filled the raised beds for the planned vegetable garden. Madingley Mulch only delivered half the soil ordered (our own soil is a thin layer of clay over chalk that needs a pickaxe to get down more than a couple of inches, hence the raised beds), but we've put in lots of compost and decided it will be enough, at least for now. Orange skins don't seem to compost - I don't know if it's the citric acid, or wax and preservatives sprayed on, or both, but there were lots looking unchanged in the compost bin (and now thrown out).
We did all go for a walk along Devil's Dyke together, but apart from that and swimming lessons, the boys seem to have spent much of the time on the computer playing with the demo for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It's just as good looking to play as the screenshots, but I'm depressingly bad at it compared to them, the little chance I've had to try it. (They largely ignored the Quidditch World Cup demo they had actually asked me to get, so I don't think we'll get the full version of that after all. They're looking forward to the next film, and I imagine they'll be another game in the same style as the first two to tie in with that. I've always thought Quidditch as described in the books could have been improved by some discussion with some sports fans, even though I'm not one myself.)
Also watched The Two Towers and found one of the DVDs has been scratched since last time we watched it, and now stutters where Aragorn is recovering in the river. Bah.
Depressed by Madrid, but at least they appear to have caught some suspects.
