Underwire bras and washing machines

The wires can come out and make nasty noises in your washing machine until someone spends a few hours taking it apart to get the wire out. Even out of the new ones that aren't fraying at all. You can avoid this by putting them in a bag or pillowcase (or handwashing, obviously).
This has been a public service announcement on behalf of people who just spent a few hours getting a wire out of a washing machine and putting the machine back together. Thank you.

And you didn't spend the next several hours rewiring the bra?

No, Alice was in bed by then, and has other bras, but Nana Pam wanted her washing machine back as soon as reasonably possible.
