Knob not responding

One of the support people at work just gave a link to a 31MByte video file a customer sent us of a rotary dial/button "not responding". They repeatedly twiddle it and press it for a minute, and nothing happens on the little LCD screen next to it, which stays dark, reflecting their camera.
On the other side of the LCD screen, also visible in the video, is the power switch. They don't press that at all, and the power on indicator light stays darks too.

Oh dear. Classic tho'. The support materials we had on hand at my last but one job included the reminder to get the client to check that their computer was plugged in (cleaners sometimes unplugged) and turned on, before getting into anything more complicated. It solved a number of blank screen situations.
