You might be a caffeine addict if....

We had a power cut this morning (about 7:10 till after I left for work). I'm sure we have a hand-powered coffee grinder somewhere, but we couldn't find it. But we do have a pestle and mortar, so we had breakfast coffee.

... it's amazing what you can do with a ziploc bag and a rolling pin or other heavy item!

And if you have a blender or food processor, that will do in a pinch (though you'll have to clean it out afterwards!!), what, you don't have a battery powered one? Shame on you!

:-)

Only battery powered blender is a child's milkshake maker, and I doubt its up to the job (the standard plastic blades certainly aren't).
Maybe I should just get an inverter, I'm sure it would be useful for other things.

You have gas, don't you? Perhaps I should invest in a cheap portable stove for such emergencies in summer. In the winter the Rayburn should be lit...

Yes. The oven doesn't work when there is no electrity, but the rings do (once I stopped pressing the ignition switch and used a lighter). (And we do have a camping stove).
