Every now and again iTunes tells me that it has assumed that since I hadn't listened to a podcast for a while, it's stopped subscribing to it.
i) Why can't it notice that I have been copying the podcasts to an iPod where they have been listened to?
ii) Is there a preference to say "just keep downloading them until I tell you to stop, don't guess"?

Recent IRC conversation:
[14:24] <xxxxxx> Does anybody know of a way to convince iTunes not to stop updating podcasts just because it thinks I haven't listened to recent editions?
[14:26] <armb> If you find out, I'd like to know too. You would think "recent editions were copied to an iPod from here" would be a hint that I am still interested.
[14:34] <xxxxxx> google finds lots of people saying "this sucks" and no ways of making it suck less
